Staff say: “Read it!”

book thiefMrs. Kuipers gives two thumbs up to “THE BOOK THIEF” by Markus Zusak. Here’s what she has to say about it: “A young German girl is adopted during the second world war. Her adoptive father teaches her how to read and she is hooked on consuming books (figuratively speaking). Because books are so rare and many books have been burned she begins to steal books. It’s a coming of age story of a German girl growing up in Nazi Germany.”
Curious about what else she recommends? Check out “Peace Like A River” by Leif Enger.
