wave hello

Just as many events this year have moved to virtual experiences, so too is the annual UFV Practicum student hosted by the library. Mrs. Madison Holgate will be joining Ms. Penner remotely, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until Spring Break. Although you won’t be passing each other in the hallways, please welcome her to MEI if you have the opportunity to — I will make sure she see’s any hello’s posted to the library’s social media pages or sent in messages.

it’s almost textbook time

Remember how you returned your textbooks when you picked up your textbook bags for this quarter? We’re going to do the same thing again! Please hold onto your current textbooks and bring them with you for your first day of Quarter 3 classes on FEB 1. All classes will be called to the library in a COVID-friendly way for the textbook swap — to return your old textbooks and pick up your new ones.

Please do not return your textbooks to the return cart by the library Grab + Go table — this week, that is only a spot to return library books.

Got a question? Let me know!

how many can you carry?

Any library books you borrow in the month of December will be all yours over the Christmas break, with the due date after we return from the holidays. And to add to the festive fun, there is no limit on what you can check out!

Login + Hold It! HERE >> bit.ly/meilibrary

OR request a BOOK BUNDLE for the holidays >> bit.ly/meibookbundle

Ms. Penner will check it out for you and send you a Schoology message once your library books are ready for pick-up at the Grab + Go library table in the front entry of the school.

What about my textbooks?

It’s almost time for the textbook shuffle — returning 1st quarter and picking up your textbooks for the 2nd quarter classes.

HERE’S THE PLAN!

Monday November 9, bring ALL your 1st quarter textbooks to school with you. Return them to the library when you are called down by class to pick-up the bag of all your 2nd quarter textbooks.

Please do not return textbooks this week to the Return cart in the front foyer as there isn’t room for the 1400+ textbooks checked out right now and is just for returning library books right now.

Keep an eye on Schoology posts for upcoming reminders and info.

borrow a bundle of books

Don’t know what to read, or what to even begin searching for in the library catalog?

Do you like surprises or trying new things?

TRY A BOOK BUNDLE!

Simply answer a couple of questions HERE and let the Librarian surprise you with a stack of stories! You will be sent a Schoology message when your Book Bundle is ready to pick-up at the Grab + Go library table in the front entrance of the school.

need a textbook?

Have you changed classes and NEED A DIFFERENT TEXTBOOK(S) than what you picked up at the library today? Let the librarian know!

Check the Grab + Go library table in the front entry of the school on Tuesday and Thursday for your requested textbook(s). They will be in a yellow bag with your student # on it.

hello! you can find help here …

Libraries are all about sharing, which makes social distancing and safety a bit trickier than in other areas of the school. It will be a happy day when the library doors are open to the masses once again!

For now, the physical space of the library is remaining closed. And even though the doors are closed for now, you can still enjoy so many of the reasons why you came to the library in the first place!

  • Yes! You will still be able to borrow books.
  • All of your textbooks will be delivered to you.
  • Need resources for an assignment, we’ve got those too! Both online, and books you can have delivered.
  • Are you locked out of your account or suffering from tech trauma? The librarian is still the one to go to. Only going is now through an email or a Schoology message.
  • WiFi not working? Ask the Librarian for help.
  • Wondering how to login to Schoology or use Office365? Find tutorials on the MEI Secondary Library group in Schoology or be in touch with the Librarian.
  • Join in on events and contests through the MEI Secondary Library group on Schoology or @meilibrary on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
